Meet Mike

 KA

As Mayor of Kyle, Mike Gonzalez is showing just how much can be accomplished for a community when you put aside petty political infighting and focus on meeting the needs of your citizens.

In May 2005, Mike Gonzalez was first elected mayor after a campaign focused on meeting the challenges for the newly rapidly-growing city. 2005 would later prove to be the beginning of a period of rapid growth for the city, growing from a population of 7,000 to nearly 30,000 today. Mayor Mike Gonzalez was re-elected to a second term in May 2008.

While in office Mayor Mike has focused on building the quality community desired by his citizens. As he has stated, “you cannot achieve a quality community by focusing on just one or two issues; rather you must take a strategic view of how all these issues affect each other and how they can move your community forward.”   His policies have created phenomenal economic, retail, employment, and healthcare opportunities for the families in the region in a short amount of time.

Mayor Mike’s leadership and experience with transportation issues earned him an appointment to the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) representing all cities in Hays County.

Prior to being elected, Mayor Gonzalez served on the Kyle Citizen’s Water Advisory Board, Comprehensive Parks Board, and was chairman of the Kyle Planning and Zoning Board.
